Custom 3D rigs are designed, manufactured and field tested by cinematographer / inventor Stewart Mayer.

Stewart is also the inventor of camBLOCK, the portable motion control system used for location realtime and timelapse motion control cinematography.

Recent interest in 3D has led to the creation of many 3D housing prototypes, some of which are now available here.

We will be offering a variety of 3D rig designs over the next few months, Beamsplitter, parallel, dual mirror, and hybrid designs as well. We don’t believe in “one size its all”. Our goal is to offer a variety of systems, so you can choose the best one for your specific needs.

3D doesn’t have to be complicated, our goal is to keep it simple.

All designs are created and modeled in CAD, then manufactured through modern CNC machining techniques.

3D is a growing technology that is quickly becoming popular. If you're interested in our 3D camera rigs or if you need a new custom design built please relay your interest to us.

The interest we receive will directly determine how quickly we create and release our products. Estimated pricing is between $1500 and $2500 for entry models.

Please email 3d@custom3drigs.com if you are interested or have any questions.

The C3DR DSLR beamsplitter rig allows for inter-occular distances from 0” to 4” in 1/2” incriments. The cheese plate style mounting holes for both cameras are identical and alligned, so alignment is as simple as counting mounting holes. This simple approach leaves out fine tuning adjustment and lens controls, but additional adjustment hardware may be added to this rig if desired.

Our beamsplitter box was originally built as part of the camBLOCK motion control system for DSLR stereo timelapse, but also works well shooting real time video. Future models will reduce size and allow for a larger choice of lenses. Rig alone weighs 5lbs.

The C3DR XF305 parallel rig, designed specifically for dual Canon XF305 cameras, brings the two cameras as close as possible in a side-by-side configurtion by turning one camera upside down. This design, being camera specific, is very compact. A similar Canon XF105 rig is in the works.

Our rig features zoom and focus knobs out the rear that jointly control both lenses for quick zoom and focus control in the field. This system, with it’s 4.25” to 8” inter-occular distance, was designed for natural history field production where subjects are often further away from camera. Dozens of mounting holes allow for easy customization. Weighs just 5lbs.
